This website represents an attempt by a group of health professionals to start a discussion on how a healthy future can be generated for Scotland and beyond. It grew out of a group who first got together in 2003 to attempt some new thinking about the problem of obesity, and has subsequently been refreshed by more recent work on inequalities, wellbeing, climate change and peak oil.
An early inspiration for our work was The Fifth Wave, a report of the Scottish Council Foundation's Healthy Public Policy Network to which some of us contributed. The Fifth Wave argues that some of our established ways of doing things may have largely run their course, and that we will therefore need to find new ways of doing things if health is to continue to improve.
